Do women and men shop in a different way? November 2011
Gone are the days when women were solely responsible for the purchase of shirts, socks and pyjamas of their husbands. When it comes to clothing, footwear and accessories almost all men (94 %) are at least involved in the purchasing process. Nearly every man (47 %) buys his clothing by himself.
Shopping is generally regarded positively by most women, with connotations ranging from being fun (25 %) to a welcome change (25 %). For nearly a fifth of consumers, however, the fact that they have to watch their spending carefully makes shopping a more depressive event.
Furthermore the large range of products on offer is often (30 %) mentioned as an issue for some making it difficult and tiresome to “find the right thing”.
